|---|---|---|
| ZX420i+ 203 dpi · 108 mm · USB, RS232, Ethernet | 'GEPL' in the brochure's language set; the same manual says 'GEPL(Eltron mode)' and that it is selected with '~S,ESE' | Source 2026-09-18 |
| ZX430i+ 300 dpi · 105.7 mm · USB, RS232, Ethernet | 'GEPL' in the brochure's language set; the manual expands it as 'GEPL(Eltron mode)' | Source 2026-09-18 |
These are Industrial units from the ZX400i+ family, printing at 203/300 dpi with a 105.7/108 mm print width, reachable over Ethernet, RS232, USB. The interface is part of the answer: an emulation mode is selected on the device or by a prefix in the stream, so how you reach the printer decides how you switch it.
Godex ships these at 203/300 dpi, so the same EPL coordinates land at different physical sizes depending on which unit you got — check that before you blame the emulation for a layout that came out wrong.
The Godex claims here rest on the vendor's product brochure. Source type is part of the evidence: a manual ships and is versioned with the product, while a support article can change without notice.
Godex does not stop at one: the same records document emulation for 2 printer languages in total. The others are ZPL.
EPL is documented as a native language on printers from Zebra. If the hardware is still your choice, that removes the emulation question entirely.
Will my existing EPL labels print unchanged on a Godex printer?
Not necessarily. Godex's mode covers the subset of EPL that Godex chose, so fonts, barcode types and graphics are the usual places where output differs. Send one real label to the device and compare before you migrate a fleet.
