ZPL DPI Converter

Rescales coordinates, fonts and barcode dimensions between 203, 300 and 600 DPI. Embedded image data (^GF) is not scaled — the tool says so explicitly.

How to convert ZPL between resolutions

    1. Paste your ZPL and pick the source and target DPI (203, 300, 600).
    2. Press Convert: ^FO/^FT coordinates, ^A font sizes, ^BY module width and ^PW/^LL label dimensions are scaled by the same factor.
    3. Read the warnings: images embedded with ^GF/~DG are NOT scaled; regenerate logos from a high-resolution source instead.
    4. Copy the output, or open it in the viewer to compare both resolutions side by side.

When this is the right tool

Use it when your printer fleet moves from 203 to 300 DPI, when a supplier template was authored for a different resolution than your printer, or when the same label must print on two different models. The conversion is lossless for text-based commands; a round trip returns the original code.

    Frequently asked questions

    • Why are images not converted? — ^GF data is pixel-for-pixel; scaling it mathematically produces blurry or broken output. The honest path is to reconvert the source (PNG/SVG) at the target resolution — our image-to-ZPL tool does exactly that.
    • Is the conversion lossless? — For text-based commands, yes: a 203→300→203 round trip returns the same values. Integer rounding can introduce single-dot differences; our tests lock that boundary.
    • Do barcodes stay scannable? — Because module width (^BY) is scaled too, the barcode keeps its physical size. Still, verify critical barcodes in the viewer and, where possible, with a real scanner before production — this tool is not a printer.
