CPCL Viewer

Paste CPCL printer code below and render it as a label image. CPCL is the native language of Zebra mobile printers; the label height and copy count come from the session header (! 0 200 200 <height> <qty>) and the width from PAGE-WIDTH.

This tool renders NATIVE CPCL, the language of Zebra mobile printers (QL/ZQ/iMZ and compatibles). Many of these printers also accept ZPL or EPL in separate, manufacturer-documented modes — for those languages use the ZPL or EPL viewer.
Coverage: 5 commands supported, 5 partially supported, 7 recognized as printer-behaviour (not drawn). The preview renders at 203 dpi and is an interpretation of the Zebra CPCL programming guide — it has not been verified against a physical printer.

Preview assumes 203 dpi; CONTRAST, TONE and SPEED are printer settings and do not change the image. The TEXT sub-size and SETMAG scaling are outside the MVP.

Command syntax: CPCL command reference

How to preview CPCL code

  1. Paste the CPCL session — from a spool file, a Zebra mobile printer integration or a legacy application.
  2. Press Render. The label height and copies come from the session header (!), the width from PAGE-WIDTH; the image is drawn at 203 dpi.
  3. Rendering warnings (skipped commands, unsupported barcode types, missing header) are counted above the image; the validator gives line-level detail.
  4. Not sure the code is CPCL? Use the printer language detector first.

When this is the right tool

Use it when you build or maintain labels and receipts for Zebra mobile printers (QL, ZQ, iMZ series and compatibles) and need to see the output without hardware. Remember the mode split: this renders native CPCL — if your device runs in its documented ZPL or EPL mode, those jobs belong in the matching viewer.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is the preview pixel-identical to the printout? — No. It is a 203 dpi interpretation of the CPCL programming guide, not physically verified; fonts in particular are approximate.
  • Why is my barcode skipped? — The MVP renders 128, 39, EAN13 and UPCA. Other types are reported honestly instead of drawn wrongly.
  • Where does the label size come from? — Height and copies from the session header (! 0 200 200 <height> <qty>), width from PAGE-WIDTH; without a header the preview uses defaults and says so.
